My client is undergoing a major transformation deploying new video platform for over 15 countries for millions of customers with a rapid time to market. They require a Solution Architect to join their team to create the Architecture framework and drive standards.
The ideal candidate has even been working in a lead role that circles around the cloud automation/orchestration topic."
The role is a key Software Architect position responsible for design/architecture of the automation framework for the Entertainment platform deployed across several countries.
The primary purpose of the SW Architect is to define strategy, tooling, code standards, workflows, etc. with regards to the build and development of Infrastructure as Code including an automation framework with elements of declarative automation model, state and orchestrator.
The role will be responsible for business transformation from network centric to application centric deployment
This role will perform across department boundaries, cooperating and contributing with other DevOps teams within technology and operations.
Architecture and Design of IaC and automation framework to support continuous integration
Provide definition and clear documentation of the automation platform
Primary goal is automation of cloud environment (network and compute), but driven by application requirements
Work closely with NW and cloud architects and developers to define building blocks and new features
Write clean, well-structured and maintainable code for demo purposes
Design and develop in-life excellence solution like Fault identification, tolerance and recovery automations
Actively participate in planning and management of platform development process
Act as last tier for diagnosing issues, analysing the root causes and making preventive plans
Explore new latest relevant technology, techniques, frameworks, tools, methodologies and processes
Knowledge & experience
Preferred education/ qualifications:
University degree (Bachelor or Masters) in Computer Science, Science, Mathematics or equivalent or be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge
At least fluent spoken and written English
Skills & Experience:
4+ years of experience in working with Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu or similar)
Effective communication skills, ability to work well in a collaborative, team environment within sometimes tight deadlines
Proven track record as a SW architect, ideally on cloud automation projects
Hands-on scripting and coding experience in working with Python, Ruby, Shell Scripting or similar
Knowledge/Experience with one or more database flavours (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, Neo4J) and DB optimization
Experience working with configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.
Experience with various API standards (JSON, REST) and Python frameworks (Django, Flask, etc)
Experience with web and HTTP proxy servers, i.e., Tomcat, Apache, Nginx, Varnish, Squid or similar
Knowledge in virtualization and Linux containers, i.e., KVM, Docker, CoreOS rkt or similar
Practical knowledge with cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Experience with High Availability Solutions, global scale solutions like cloud based auto scaling etc.
Nice to have knowledge automated deployment/continuous Integration tools, i.e., Maven, Jenkins, Fabric8 or similar
Nice to have all-round knowledge with container technologies, open source technologies and tools.
Nice to have experience with commercial or open source monitoring systems, i.e., Nagios, Zabbix, Open Falcon or similar
Nice to have knowledge of Elastic solutions (Elastic, Kibana, Logstash) and monitor data collection tools
General knowledge of software engineering practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, Agile development, build processes, testing, and operations
Strong preference for Network knowledge about TCP/IP protocol suites, network security, and experience with tools like Wireshark/tcpdump, mitmproxy, dig, curl or similar
