How to build a stronger relationship with your manager
Your relationship with your manager is one of the most important factors in your working life. It's not about being a sycophant or a 'yes' person; it's about building a productive partnership that benefits both of you. A strong alliance can lead to more opportunities, greater support, and a less stressful time at work. So how do you go about it?
See things from their perspective
Before you can build an alliance, you need to understand where they're coming from. Your manager has their own set of pressures and priorities. They are likely judged on the team's success, so when you do well, they look good too. Try to view your work through their eyes. What are their biggest challenges? What are the overarching objectives for the team? If you can align your own work with these goals, you're already off to a flying start.
